burpi & the environment

From our end, we haven’t always thought strongly about the impact our own shopping choices were having on the environment. Although we always knew in the back of our minds it was an issue.

We only began to think more about plastic waste when our kitchen recycling bin and under kitchen sink cupboards were ALWAYS full with plastic, mainly 1L soda water bottles...so, domestic frustration started it off.

Fast forward to Christmas 2018 and we receive a soda water maker as a joint Christmas present – yessss! From that moment we started to make OUR OWN fizzy water, our empty plastic bottles were are at a minimum and we got some space back under the sink.

Now, If you didn’t know, there is an industry 'guide' that x1 soda gas cylinder will make up to 60L of soda water (depending on how bubbly you like your soda!) Great! so the quick maths tells us that my family and our customers are reducing the purchase of x60 plastic bottles with each soda gas cylinder that we use in our soda makers!....We haven't obviously saved the planet with this change-up...but, it's a good start...and also a small good news story relating to ourselves and our customers shopping choices that does help reduce plastic waste.
